Admissions

Kyoto Komore International Institute seeks bright, motivated, and globally minded students from a variety of backgrounds. Our admissions process is holistic and competitive, evaluating each applicant’s academic achievements, personal character, extracurricular involvement, and potential to thrive in our international community. We are committed to fairness and inclusivity in admissions, and we welcome applications from students around the world who will contribute to and benefit from the vibrant educational experience we offer.

High School Admissions (K-12): Admission to our international school program (kindergarten through grade 12) is based on a comprehensive review of each applicant’s overall profile, including academic records, English language proficiency, entrance assessments, and an interview. Prospective students are typically asked to provide recent school transcripts, teacher recommendations, and any relevant standardized test results to demonstrate their academic readiness. We look for young learners who show curiosity, adaptability, and enthusiasm for learning in a rigorous yet supportive environment. Whether a student is joining in early childhood, middle school, or at the high school level, our goal is to identify those who will flourish in and contribute to our diverse school community.

Undergraduate Admissions: Admission to Kyoto Komore’s undergraduate programs is selective and seeks students with strong academic preparation and a passion for learning. Applicants should have completed a challenging secondary school curriculum (such as an International Baccalaureate diploma, A-Levels, or an equivalent) that demonstrates their readiness for university-level work. The application typically requires submission of high school transcripts, proof of English proficiency (such as TOEFL or IELTS scores for non-native speakers), letters of recommendation, and a personal essay or statement of purpose. Standardized test scores (SAT/ACT) are optional but can be submitted to supplement the application. Our admissions committee evaluates undergraduate applications holistically, considering academic excellence alongside qualities like leadership, creativity, community engagement, and global awareness. We actively welcome international applicants and provide support to ensure students from various educational systems can navigate the application process successfully.

Graduate Admissions: Admission to our graduate programs requires a completed undergraduate degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) from an accredited institution. Applicants must submit official post-secondary transcripts and should have a solid foundation in the field they wish to pursue at the graduate level. Depending on the program, applicants may need to provide standardized graduate admission test scores, such as the GRE for research-focused programs or the GMAT for MBA applicants. Non-native English speakers should also submit proof of English proficiency at a high level. Additional requirements include letters of recommendation from professors or employers, a detailed statement of purpose outlining academic and professional goals, and in some cases a research proposal or portfolio (for research degrees or creative fields) to demonstrate the candidate’s potential. Professional work experience is also considered for certain programs, particularly the MBA. Our graduate admissions committee carefully reviews each candidate’s qualifications and research or leadership potential. We strive to admit students who not only have demonstrated academic achievement but also the ambition and vision to contribute meaningfully to their field and to our scholarly community.

Scholarships & Financial Aid: Kyoto Komore International Institute is committed to making a world-class education accessible to outstanding students. We offer a range of scholarships and financial aid options for qualified applicants at all levels. Merit-based scholarships reward academic excellence, talent, or leadership, while need-based financial aid can assist students who require support to attend. International students are eligible for many of our funding opportunities. All applicants are automatically considered for scholarships during the admissions process, and our financial aid office works closely with families to explore available options. Through these efforts, we ensure that cost is not a barrier for those students who have the ability and drive to succeed at Kyoto Komore.

Throughout the admissions process, our dedicated Admissions Office provides personalized guidance to applicants and their families. We encourage prospective students to visit our Kyoto campus or participate in virtual information sessions to get to know our community and ask questions. Our goal is to make the admissions journey as transparent, informative, and welcoming as possible. From initial inquiry to enrollment, we support applicants every step of the way, reflecting our institution’s student-centered values from the very first interaction.
